Renewing your cat or dog insurance policy

Pet insurance renewal with petGuard is really easy. Three weeks before your renewal date, we'll send you your renewal details which will include:

  • Your renewal premium for the next 12 months.
  • A link to your online account showing your policy schedule where you can check the details of your cover.
  • Access to your policy documentation, including: any policy wordings, notice of change, terms of business and your insurance product information document.
  • A link to your online account which will show you any important changes that have been made to your cover, if any have been made at all.

If you're paying by either credit or debit card, then we'll debit your card with the full renewal premium amount on your renewal date, if you have previously given us permission to do so and your card details haven’t changed since your last policy. If you are paying by Direct Debit, then we will continue to collect your payment each month, unless you have opted out of our ‘Automatic Renewal’ option.

It's important that you review your documents, so please read through them carefully to make sure everything is correct and pay attention to any limitations and exclusions. Please inform us if there are any issues with your cover.

How do I cancel my policy?

If you've changed your mind and have decided that you do not want to renew your policy with us, then please call us straight away. You can get in touch with us by either calling: 0333 004 3888 or emailing: support@guardcover.co.uk

Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday 9am - 5pm

Does pet insurance automatically renew?

Many people find this the easiest way of renewing their insurance. You can pay either by direct debit or we can take future payments from your credit card. We will write to you three weeks before your renewal date to inform you of your premium for the upcoming year. If your details are all the same and you're fine with that, then you don't need to do anything else. Your insurance will renew automatically and you can remain covered.

How do I renew my pet insurance policy?

If you haven't given us permission to take payment from your credit card, or you don't pay for your insurance by direct debit, then we will write to you three weeks before your renewal date to see if you'd like to continue with your cover. We'll include details of your premium for the upcoming year and invite you to renew your policy with us. Unless you get in contact with us, your cover will end on the renewal date and you will no longer be insured. If you'd like to get in touch, or if you'd like to change to an automatic renewal to make things easier, then feel free to call us at any time.
